On Friday we attended the first of our Nobler Experiment Summer Cocktail Series at Raymi NYC and tasted all sorts of great Peruvian classics. (Be sure to follow us on Facebook to hear more about the Cocktail Series). What was so fascinating was just how crucial the role of the bitters were in each and every drink, to the point where in some cases before and after adding, it was like tasting two different cocktails altogether. Got me thinking of another amazing bitter included cocktail that we fell in love with on our trip to Seattle a few weeks back. Check out the original post at Chez CateyLou’s website and the recipe below. Who would have thought chocolate bitters and grapefruit were such a perfect match!
Grapefruit Tequila Cocktail with Chocolate Bitters (Inspired by the Sinaloa)
1.5 oz silver tequila
.5 oz Cocchi Storico Vermouth di Torino
2.5 oz fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
4 dashes of chocolate bitters
Agave to taste
(1) In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add tequila, vermouth, and grapefruit juice. Shake well. Taste the mixture and add a drop or two of agave if not sweet enough. (2) Add bitters to a glass and swirl around. Strain grapefruit drink into glass. Add a few fresh ice cubes and garnish with a grapefruit twist.
