Monday night we paired up with good friends, Canon Logic, in celebrating their latest album release with a special Happy Hour at Hill and Dale in the LES. WYLD is a must listen; download it here and get to rocking! As for Hill and Dale, it looks like we’ve found ourselves another Nobler Hang!
One of the challenges for cocktail centric bars is in execution of atmosphere. Delicious, multi-ingredient cocktails tend to push bar developers into an area of pretension but the ones that get it right, find a way to be welcoming, comfortable, and approachable. Hill and Dale is all of the above with a great atmosphere capped off by their back room space lined with comfy couches, stools, and a little corner for live music. On Monday nights, the Steamboats play a mix of bluegrass and folk classics that set the mood for the amazing Happy Hour specials (includes $1 oysters!!) but it turns out the rest of the week Hill and Dale is packing in the entertainment just as well. Too bad we weren’t celebrating the record release on a Tuesday…
But all joking aside, I was really impressed with everything we had at Hill and Dale. Great cocktails, including the WYLD, special made for the evening kicking up a classic dark and stormy with some coconut milk and the Flip the Frog showcasing cucumber, gin, and St. Germain were both crowd favorites. Plus they’ve got a solid beer list and a killer food menu rounding out all the needs for your post work imbibing.
Hill and Dale is a fantastic addition to the LES where pre and post show bar-goings can be really hit or miss. Pumped to get back and try some more!
